When the first lockdown happened in March 2020, my business coach Michelle said something to me that stopped me in my tracks:
“Sheryl, everything happens FOR you and not TO you. Remember that.”
I got my A into G and made the most of it, deciding to completely change my business. In a few short months I created a new business model, had a new website, started creating online nutrition programmes and started doing online coaching. By the end of the year my new weight loss Academy programme was launched. This all came about because of the gift of extra time and how I decided to use it.
We are now in the midst of another long lockdown in Auckland with – at the time of writing – no clear end in sight. I have been coaching people daily throughout lockdown and there’s no doubt that this lockdown is different from last year. The novelty has worn off. Stress is high, emotions are going haywire and emotional eaters are hitting the cupboards. The struggle is real!
However, we can choose to look at this time as something we can make work FOR us.
We can use this opportunity to make progress towards our goals instead of going in the wrong direction.
The truth is: Lockdown is probably the best chance you will get all year to lose weight!
Why? Because it takes away many of the situations that get people into trouble:
All the usual excuses are no more!
This is, without a doubt, the BEST chance you may have to get momentum going, so make the most of it. With Summer just around the corner, this is the perfect time to refocus, make a new goal and start taking action.
You can wallow in self pity for the next 2,3,4 weeks (who knows how long?) or you can take ownership and make this unusual situation we find ourselves in work to your advantage. The choice is yours.
